Abstract
For over 50 years, doctors have been researching an adhesive biomaterial that could be used for bone fracture repair and securing metal implants to bone. RevBio is the world's first company leading the development of such a technology. The key challenges of bringing this technology to clinical use have been outlined in several papers, particularly by David F. Farrar in his paper Bone Adhesives for Trauma Surgery: A Review of Challenges and Developments, where he states a multitude of required features for a successful bone adhesive, including: high adhesion strength to bone in a wet field, mechanical stability, biocompatibility and allowing the fracture to heal. TETRANITE has been demonstrated to solve many of these challenges through pre-clinical and now human clinical studies on the path towards full commercialization.

Michael C. Brown is the Vice President of Research & Development and Co-Founder of RevBio, Inc., a company focused on the development of TETRANITE, the world's first adhesive biomaterial designed for fixation and fusion of bone. He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008 with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and General Management before joining Johnson & Johnson working to develop and launch several medical devices for Neurovascular and Sports Medicine applications. In 2013, he joined In Vivo Therapeutics, an early stage biomaterials company developing a biodegradable scaffold for the treatment of traumatic spinal cord injury.  After receiving FDA approval to initiate a first-in-human clinical study for this product in 2014, the R&D team was part of a reduction in force which led Mike to co-found RevBio with several other members of the In Vivo Therapeutics R&D team. For the last decade at RevBio, he has led the research & development efforts of the company’s novel bone adhesive technology for applications in dental, spine, neuro, orthopedics and veterinary care leading to 7 approved clinical studies to date. While building and growing RevBio from the original founding team of six to 25 employees, Mike attended MIT where he received his Masters in Engineering Management in 2020 focusing his research on future roadmapping and scaling the TETRANITE technology. He currently is an inventor on 6 patents and has authored 8 articles/presentations. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, grilling and spending time with his wife and 2 dogs.
