Metallurgist/Failure Analyst

 A progressive, growing, employee owned company seeking a metallurgist with failure analysis expertise to lead the Failure Analysis/Materials Engineering Consulting Group as Technical Director at Massachusetts Materials Research, Inc., a 44-year old materials engineering and testing company. 

An excellent opportunity to serve in the top technical management position in the company, involving a dynamic mix of technical project management, laboratory analysis, customer interaction, technical sales/marketing, business growth and internal technical quality responsibilities.  Two engineers, an associate engineer and an analyst report to the Technical Director.

Candidate shall have achieved a M.S. in Metallurgy/Materials Science & Engineering plus 15 years relevant experience, minimum, or a Ph.D. plus 10 years relevant experience.  PE registration or intent to achieve PE required.  Position requires strong technical knowledge in the metallurgy/materials engineering field, with a sound background in fracture, corrosion and mechanical behavior required, as well.

Other key attributes include solid analytical/investigation skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills, high energy, customer-focused and positive, success-oriented attitude.  Must possess experience in proposing, estimating and conducting investigations, from large to small, at times while being witnessed by clients and peers.  Experience in forensic investigations in support of litigations for clients from law firms and insurance companies a must.  Experience as expert witness in the courtroom desired.  Competence in interacting with clients at all levels within companies, law firms, municipalities and federal, state and local government positions.  National recognition, or willingness to establish national recognition in failure analysis desirable.  Company offers stock ownership, excellent medical, dental, life insurance and other benefits.
